GIFTS FROM THE HEART

From Human Care, Zone Fall Rallies 2024


Our LWML MNS District ladies held Gatherings and Servant Events, and collections were held for area mission projects. Following are the Zone Rallies held Fall 2024. The Servant Events and mission support projects were:

  • Arlington Zone Spring Rally met September 28th at Immanuel Lutheran, Gaylord, with Reverend John Reinke speaking on Deaf Ministry. Gifts from the Heart (GFTH) was $765 for Deaf Ministry.

  • Blue Earth Zone met October 6th at Our Savior Lutheran, Winnebago. Speaker was Reverend James Kroonblawd. Options Pregnancy Center, in Fairmont, received 5 pairs of jeans, 20 pairs of pants, 15 onesies, 3 pair flannel pants, 13 pairs of shoes, 10 pair of socks, 9 burp towels, 3 small blankets, 12 bibs, 1 pair slippers, and 4 pairs of pajamas.
     
  • Carver Zone met October 5th at St. John’s Lutheran, Hollywood, with Joel Landskroener from Mayer Lutheran High School speaking. GFTH included gift cards for coffee and fast food. Fourty-four cards worth $500 were collected along with cash, checks, and loose change totaling $46.27 to give to staff in appreciation of their service. A donation of $400 was also given from the Carver Zone to the Mayer Lutheran Middle and High School.
     
  • Lake Minnetonka Zone met on October 12th at Zion Lutheran, Hopkins. The speaker was Peggy Benicke from the Crystal Women’s Clinic. GFTH was $495 in gift certificates for Target, Amazon, and Walmart. A cash donation of $8 was collected for the Crystal Women’s Clinic baby boutique where people can choose items after completing the class.
     
  • Litchfield Zone met October 26th at Zion Lutheran, Annandale, with Virginia Flo from Lutherans for Life speaking. GFTH donated to Options for Women at Cornerstone in St. Michael, Minnesota, included 8 packages of diapers, 4 packages of Pull-Ups, 6 baby washcloths and towels, 7 bottles, Aveno baby products, 3 Dreft laundry detergents, 31 onesies, and $140 in cash.
     
  • McLeod Zone Rally met October 19th at Immanuel Lutheran, Brownton. The speaker was Reverend Dr. Tom Trapp on the topic Be Still and Know that I am God. A monetary collection of $508 was given to the Orphan Grain Train for shipping.
     
  • NE Suburban Zone met at St. John’s Lutheran, Elk River. The theme was Uganda Cultural Event. The speaker was Jesca Kuhl from Shine International. They collected enough materials for over 100 pillowcase dresses for girls in Uganda and $824 for Shine International.
     
  • NW Suburban Zone met October 12th at Shepherd of the Grove, Maple Grove. Dr. Jeffrey E Burkhart was the speaker. 42 ladies registered. Mites received were $150. Offering was $117 and GFTH was $955 for scholarships at King of Kings Lutheran School, Roseville.
     
  • Owatonna Conference met October 5th at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Waseca with Reverend Mark Moss from Lutheran Heritage Foundation speaking about “Found in Translation". GFTH was $842 for Lutheran Heritage Foundation for shipping books.
     
  • Pipestone Zone met October 12th at Zion Lutheran, Hardwick. Jessica Blocker, DCE, spoke on Celebrating Life Bible Study. GFTH included 50 birthday bags with cake, frosting, book, and card, in a cloth bag. Additionally, miscellaneous dry goods and $300 for Rock County Food Shelf were collected.
     
  • St. Croix River Zone met October 5th at Good Shepherd of Circle Pines with Reverend Peter Preuss addressing the topic Gospel Relief for the Despairing Christians. GFTH collected $503.81 for Lutherans for Life.
     
  • St. Paul Metro Zone met October 12th  at St. Stephanus, St Paul. Rev. Craig McCourt was the speaker. GFTH included items for newborn kits and 50 kits were assembled to give to Global Health Ministries.
     
  • SE Suburban Zone met October 5th at Trinity Lone Oak, Eagan, with Reverend Chad Kirkhoff of Shepherd of the Valley speaking about the Re-DO Fitness Ministry at his church. GFTH were for the fitness center included Bibles, catechisms, Gatorade, health bars, and cash.
     
  • SW Suburban Zone met November 9th at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Prior Lake. Kim Dickey of Global Health Ministries was the speaker. GFTH included 50 newborn kits, 313 baby items and a cash donation of $210 given to Global Health Ministry.
     
  • Whitewater Conference met October 12th at Immanuel Lutheran, Plainview, with Becky Lewis, LWML MNS District YWR to the 2023 National Convention speaking. Reverend Phil Augustine spoke on “Seeking Wisdom, a Christian Perspective on Artificial Intelligence.” GFTH were collected for the Childhood Cancer Community and included $569 cash donation, $445 Kwik Trip, Target, Visa, and Walmart gift cards, a Thermal bag, and a laundry bag.
     
  • Worthington Zone met October 5th at Zion Lutheran in Springfield.  Reverend Jonathan Kuehne from Trinity First Lutheran School, Minneapolis, was the speaker. GFTH received included sketch pads, glue sticks, journals, a room fan, 2 uniforms, plus $145 in gift cards and $611 cash donations for the school.

We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:3 NIV).
